New Collector Naval Kishore Ram to suggest new land model for airport
PUNE: The newly appointed collector of Pune, Naval Kishore Ram, will suggest the Samruddhi e-way model of land acquisition for the proposed Purandar airport to the state government.
The Samruddhi e-way model follows compensation by means of land pooling or a one-time settlement as was done for the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway in order to speed up the land acquisition process.
While a government resolution (GR) is yet to be issued by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company, the collector has told his officials to submit the exact land requirement for the project and the money required for it within a week.
Ram had earlier played a vital role in acquisition of 860 hectare from farmers for the ‘Samruddhi expressway project” that will connect Mumbai and Nagpur.
The collector told TOI that he will work on gaining the trust of the people to expedite the land acquisition process for the proposed Purandar airport too. “I will be holding a meeting with MADC next week to speed up the GR, while initiating dialogue with the villagers. I am confident that if a dialogue is initiated, the villagers will not protest,” he said.
In the direct purchase system, the model offers at least 25% higher compensation than the amount provided under the Land acquisition Act 2013.
