Pune: Revealing that he has given a site clearance to the new greenfield airport for Pune at Purandar, civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu said via tweet that the existing airport at Lohegaon has exhausted its capacity.
On April 23, the steering committee of the Union government had provided the site clearance for the project. “After the committee’s approval, the same must have gone to the minister and he has approved it today. One can now say for sure that the new Pune airport project is happening and no hiccups are expected anymore,” said an official of the Maharashtra Airport Development Committee (MADC).
