Green lessons for 80,000 kids
Pune: The state forest department and the eco-tourism development board will provide an opportunity to nearly 80,000 schoolchildren, primarily from zilla parishad schools, to experience a day at a sensitive ecosystem or at a human settlement close to it in order to inculcate responsible eco-friendly practices among them.
The Maharashtra Eco-Tourism Development Board (MEDB) intends to expand the project, known as Nisarg Anubhav, from an initial pilot of 2,000 students across four districts in eastern Maharashtra. The project entails taking students from predominantly rural and tribal areas on a day’s trip to an eco-system.
