Deccan Education Society to setup business analytics lab as part of IBM career education programme
Deccan Education Society (DES) is collaborating with International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) to setup an IBM business analytics lab as part of its IBM career education programme.The lab, which will be inside the DES campus premises, will run certificate programmes, which will be jointly developed by DES and IBM. The lab will also equip faculty members and students with knowledge and requisite skills to develop and deploy applications related to big data analytics, business intelligence and data sciences.
IBM will also enable faculty members from across DES’s network of institutions to incorporate relevant courses offered by IBM career education programme.“These certificate programmes have been designed for non-engineering students or for those pursuing their graduation and post-graduation degree. The programmes can be useful for working professionals as they help them become industry ready,” said Adesh Gokhale, council member, DES. “It will help working professionals in their current jobs and will definitely make them more productive,” he added.
Sharad Kunte, chairman, DES, who introduced the course, said, “It is a historical moment as two Institutions, DES and IBM, are coming together for contributing to the digital and skill India movement. DES is in the process of establishing the first-of-its-kind state-of-art centre of skill development and innovations (DESCSDI) in India. As the chairman of DES, it is indeed a proud moment for me and our council members to join hands with industry leaders such as IBM.”
The courses will begin over the weekend and will cost around Rs 80,000 for a three to six month course. This will be conducted in the newly setup lab in institute of management development and research (IMDR), which can accommodate 50 students.
As a part of the collaboration, participants will access the IBM cloud platform as a service (PaaS) based on open standards and will build, deploy, manage and run omni-channel applications like web and mobile, big data and other smart services. Apart from the IBM cloud platform, students will also have access to other relevant IBM technology platforms in the areas of analytics and security.
