Minister resolves deadlock over hospital licence renewal
PUNE: The deadlock over renewal of licences of small and medium-sized hospitals in the city over the issue of non-registered nursing staff appears to have been resolved with the intervention of minister for state for urban development Ranjit Patil who issued oral orders to the Pune Municipal Corporationto expedite and ease the process of granting renewal on the basis of provisions in the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act.
Patil had called the meeting of office bearers of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Pune branch, and PMC commissioner Saurabh Rao at Mantralaya around 11 am on April 25.
“After studying the provisions of the act , the minister orally ordered PMC officials to grant renewal licences,” said eye surgeon Sanjay Patil, chairman of IMA’s Hospital Board of India (HBI), Pune branch.
When contacted, Vaishali Patil, assistant medical officer of health , PMC, said, “We will act as per the written orders of the state government.”
