28 candidates shortlisted for Savitribai Phule Pune University registrar’s post
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is now looking to fill the post of the registrar and as many as 28 individuals have been nominated for the post, informed the varsity officials. There are several professors and administrative officers in the candidate list.
“Arvind Shaligram has been the acting registrar for the past one year and therefore, we are in need for a full-time registrar at the university now. Hence, we have opened up the position and are taking into consideration deserving individuals,” said vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar.
As a registrar, the person appointed will be responsible to address complaints and suggestions regarding the improvement of the administration. He or she will also need to authenticate records, agreements and documents on the varsity’s behalf.
A total of 40 applications were made to the university administration for scrutiny. From the applications received, 28 individuals have been shortlisted and will be interviewed by the selection committee, appointed by the varsity. The committee will include two vice-chancellors of different universities, senate members, management council members, industry experts and others. The prominent candidates for the position include Prafulla A. Pawar, head of the department of Management Sciences (PUMBA); Shrirang Bathe, formerdeputy registrar, Genu Darekar of Kakade College in Baramati;Shankar Patil, professor at the department of Physics and others. Shaligram would also be competing for the position. The process of appointment is set to begin in a month.
In addition to this, the university has also opened up the position of finance and accounts officer, for which the acting officer, Vidya Gargote, along with six others, will be contesting. The selection committee has also been entrusted to fill the post of the director of innovation and incubation, for which Asha Panda’s name has been suggested to the committee for scrutiny.
