PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Over a period of 18 months, the Pimpri Chinchwad Smart CityLimited (PCSCL) has received just over a fifth of the amount due from the state and central governments. Of the total Rs200 crore, the corporation has received Rs43 crore, including Rs3 crore for administrative work, officials said.
A special purpose vehicle (SPV) has been formed to implement several projects. In the first phase, the projects will be carried out in Pimple Saudagar-Wakad area, located close to Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjewadi, covering 1,390 acres. Later, the projects will be replicated elsewhere in the city.
The Smart City project remains in the preliminary stage. As of now, development works have been finalized and tenders have been invited. At least four meetings have been held in this regard, said civic chief Shravan Hardikar, who is also the chief executive officer of PCSCL.
At the last meeting in January, mayor Nitin Kalje and ruling party leader Eknath Pawar had said that the amount of Rs200 crore would be received by January-end. If the funds are delayed, PCMC will use its own funds.
