Detailed plan on allotment of 3TMC water to PMRDA not finalized

PUNE: A detailed plan on allotment of 3 TMC of water to the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is yet to be finalized.
“Water to the PMRDA will not be supplied only from one dam. There will be decentralized supply from various sources,” said district guardian minister Girish Bapat.
The irrigation department had recently given its nod to allot 3 TMC water to the PMDRA. Questions have been raised by civic activists if the water is to be given from city’s annual quota. Bapat said there was no plan to reduce city’s quota to allot water to the PMDRA. The PMRDA area will, however, require more water in the future considering the potential development of industrial, commercial and residential sectors.
