Irrigation department warns PMC against lifting water over allotted quota

PUNE: The state irrigation department has insisted that Pune Municipal Corporation(PMC) use water with care and warned the civic body against lifting more than the stipulated quota in summer when the demand from urban and rural areas will go up.
The irrigation department has referred to the Khadakwaslairrigation canal committee which allowed PMC to lift 1,350 MLD water. The department claimed that the civic body has been consuming more water than this stipulated quota.
