PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) of the Metro rail route to the state government.
Sharing this information with TOI on Monday, PCMC standing committee chairperson Seema Savale said many development works have been proposed in the civic budget, including Kalyan Kendra for the disabled, development plan for the fringe areas and tenements at Charholi, Ravet, and Borhadewadi under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.

“Light motor vehicle training for women drivers and the 24×7 water supply under the Amrut scheme have also been proposed in the budget. A total of 300 MLD water is to be drawn from the Bhama Askhed and Andra dams,” Savale said while speaking at the special civic general body meeting on Monday. The meeting was chaired by mayor Nitin Kalje.

While municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar presented the budget with an outlay of Rs 5,235 crore, including funds from the Central and state governments, on February 15, the standing committee approved the budget the same day with an increase of Rs 27 crore.

“The fringe areas of Pimpri Chinchwad were not developed for 21 years. They have been developed under the ruling BJP party,” Savale said, adding that Rs 315 crore has been earmarked for the purpose.

She said the functioning of the civic administration was transparent as even media persons were now allowed to attend meetings of the civic standing committee.

“Many flyovers, subways, gardens are to developed by the civic administration. Students of BPL families will be given textbooks under the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Yojana. The third party technical audit of roads was not being done for years together and will be completed shortly,” Savale further said.
